Sustainability

We want to be a sustainable pioneer in our industry. Our operations are based on sustainable practices, which we also expect from our subcontractors and partners. Suora’s sustainability programme is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and we have identified six areas of our business through which we can support their implementation. In recent years, climate change and measures to combat it have been at the heart of our sustainability operations. At the beginning of 2021, we achieved carbon-neutral production as the first operator in Finland to do so in this industry sector.

Sustainability.

We are building a production model that is sustainable for people and the environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

The remote production model that we developed is our greatest environmental effort, as the carbon footprint of traditional sports production is mainly generated by the movement of people and equipment. For example, the carbon footprint of a single hockey match falls from 7.74 tonnes to 0.28 tonnes thanks to remote production. The positive emission reduction is over 95%. Zero emission production is a goal for which we are doing everything we can. We use green electricity and biofuels whenever possible. Our new premises in Helsinki, has been built in accordance with the Excellent rating of the international BREEAM environmental certification. We are able to offer carbon-neutral production today as we compensate for the remaining carbon footprint through Nordic Offset.

ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY

Successful business and new innovations create work and well-being. We develop new things and want to strengthen our position as a significant employer in our field. In addition to our own product development, we cooperate with educational institutions through which we develop the training in the field to meet future needs. With these measures, we aim to respond to changes in the work and the development of the entire industry. Good governance and legislation guide our business in all of the countries in which we operate. We also expect the same from our partners. We follow the industry’s collective agreements and invest in occupational safety.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

For us, all people are equal regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. We follow this principle in hiring people and offer staff equal opportunities for self-development. For us, it is important that gender equality extends to decision-making and is reflected in both board and management team work. The company also has a bicycle benefit.

UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The Suora Broadcast Responsibility Programme is based on the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is aimed at eradicating extreme poverty and promoting sustainable development, where the environment, the economy and people are given equal consideration now and in the future. We have identified six areas of responsibility in our business that support the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Good health and well-being

Gender equality

Decent work and economic growth

Reduced inequalities

Climate action

Peace, justice and strong institutions
